(CNN) -- Denmark scored three goals in the last eight minutes to upset Portugal 3-2 in Lisbon on Wednesday and hand home coach Carlos Queiroz his first defeat since taking charge.

Portugal had opened their 2010 World Cup qualifying campaign with a labored 4-0 victory against minnows Malta, but seemed to have sealed a second win when Chelsea midfielder Deco made it 2-1 from the penalty spot with four minutes to play.

But Christian Poulsen netted in the 90th minute and Daniel Jensen scored the clincher in the second minute of time added on.

Manchester United Nani put the hosts ahead three minutes before halftime, but Arsenal striker Nicklas Bendtner equalized in the 84th minute.

The win was a big boost for Morten Olsen, who could only draw their first match 0-0 away to Hungary.

For Queiroz, who took over from Luiz Felipe Scolari in July following Euro 2008, it is a big blow with only the top team from the six-team group guaranteed to qualify for the finals in South Africa.

Sweden joined Scandinavian neighbors Denmark on four points with a 2-1 victory at home to Hungary in Stockholm.

The Swedes, who drew 0-0 in Albania in their opening match on Saturday, were booed off at halftime after failing to break down the visitors.

But veteran striker Henrik Larsson, playing his 101st international, turned the tide in the second spell when he set up both goals.

The 37-year-old combined well with Kim Kallstrom to lay on the Lyon midfielder's 55th-minute headed opener, and then helped Samuel Holmen celebrate his first competitive outing for Sweden with a goal from close range nine minutes later.

Hungary pulled one back through Gergely Rudolf in the third minute of added time.

Albania surprisingly top the group on goal difference after crushing Malta 3-0 in Tirana, with Klodian Duro scoring one goal and setting up another.

Duro's 45th-minute cross was headed home by Erjon Bogdani, and he scored the second on 84 after exploiting the Maltese defense and beating goalkeeper Justin Haber. Armend Dallku scored the final goal with a header in the 90th minute.

In Group Two, Euro 2008 co-hosts Switzerland were stunned 2-1 by tiny Luxembourg in European Cup-winning manager Ottmar Hitzfeld's first home competitive match in charge.

Luxembourg, who ended a run of 55 consecutive defeats during the Euro 2008 qualifiers against Belarus, took the lead through veteran Jeff Strasser in the 29th minute but Blaise Nkufo leveled just before halftime.

Alphonse Leweck netted the winner four minutes from time as his side bounced back from Saturday's 3-0 defeat by Greece.

The Greeks, who disappointed at Euro 2008, top Group Two after a comfortable 2-0 away to Latvia.

Israel are second on four points after winning 2-1 in Moldova, who suffered a second successive defeat.

The Czech Republic were surprisingly held to a goalless draw byNorthern Ireland at a rainswept Windsor Park in Belfast in their opening Group Three qualifier.

The Irish were beaten 2-1 by Slovakia on Saturday, but showed great resilience to thwart their higher-ranked opponents as both sides squandered chances to score.

Poland, who like the Czechs qualified for the finals of Euro 2008 in June, won 2-0 away to minnows San Marino.

Slovenia, who held the Poles 1-1 on Saturday, also moved onto four points with a 2-1 victory at home to Slovakia.
