(CNN) -- Chelsea have succeeded in their appeal against the red card shown to John Terry in Saturday's Premier League win at Manchester City, the English Football Association confirmed on Tuesday.

Chelsea players appeal to referee Mark Halsey after John Terry's dismissal at the weekend.
The Chelsea captain's three-match ban has now been overturned, allowing him to play against Manchester United at the weekend.
Terry was sent off 13 minutes from time after bringing down City striker Jo near the halfway line.
Referee Mark Halsey deemed it a professional foul and showed Terry the red card, but Chelsea protested, and yesterday submitted a claim for wrongful dismissal.
Jo still had a long way to go to goal when the foul came in from Terry, whose fellow-defender Ricardo Carvalho was in close attendance.
However, an independent panel heard the appeal and the Football Association revealed they upheld Chelsea's claim, meaning England captain Terry must no longer serve the automatic three-match ban that follows a staight red card.
