(CNN) -- Italian champions Inter Milan were held to a 1-1 draw against Werder Bremen in Champions League Group B, despite despite dominating most of the match at the San Siro.

Maicon gives the thumbs-up after scoring his goal, but Werder Bremen recovered to draw 1-1 with Inter.

Brazilian defender Maicon gave Inter the lead with a close-range goal in the 13th minute after gathering a loose ball in the area.

However, on-loan Chelsea striker Claudio Pizarro equalized in the 62nd minute, tapping in a cross that caught keeper Julio Cesar out of position.

Maicon could have scored his, and Inter's, second three minutes from time -- but he hit the post with a low, angled shot that curled around the defense with Werder goalkeeper Tim Wiese stranded.

Meanwhile, Anorthosis Famagusta scored twice in the first 15 minutes to beat Panathinaikos 3-1, as the Cypriot team continued their surprising run in the group stage.

Jose Sarriegi gave Panathinaikos a terrible start by scoring an own-goal in the 11th minute when his attempted back header from an Andreas Constandinou throw-in caught goalkeeper Mario Galinovic completely off guard.

Sinisa Dobrasinovic doubled the lead in the 15th minute before Dimitris Salpingidis pulled one back for Panathinaikos. But Hawar Taher sealed the victory in the 78th minute, meaning Anorthosis are now level with Inter with four points from their two games, while Greek side Panathinaikos remain without a point.
