(CNN) -- Bayern Munich ignored their poor Bundesliga form to secure a convincing 3-0 win over Fiorentina in Tuesday's Champions League match in Munich to take control of Group F.

Schweinsteiger celebrates his goal as Bayern secured a convincing 3-0 victory over Fiorentina.

First-half goals from Germany internationals Miroslav Klose and Bastian Schweinsteiger, as well as a last-minute strike by Brazilian Ze Roberto, ensured the three points and kept Bayern top of the table.

Despite a dramatic recent slump which has seen them crash to 11th place in the Bundesliga, Bayern forgot their domestic form to take another three points in the quest to add to their 2001 Champions League crown.

The victory will also take some pressure off Bayern coach Jurgen Klinsmann, who picked up his first win in four league games last weekend.

Bayern had a dream start when Luca Toni, who passed a fitness test on a rib injury to face his former club, flicked the ball into the path of Klose -- who out-paced the Italian defense to drill the ball into the corner after just four minutes.

Then Germany midfielder Schweinsteiger capitalized on a mistake on the edge of the area to smash his shot past goalkeeper Sebastien Frey on 25 minutes to make it 2-0 at the break.

Don't Miss

Having scored 31 league goals for La Viola in the 2005/06 season, Toni is still a firm favorite amongst Fiorentina fans and received a warm response when he was replaced on 57 minutes.

His replacement, Lukas Podolski, was soon into the action and had a chance to score on 61 minutes when French midfielder Franck Ribery put him into space.

But Cesare Prandelli's team will leave Munich disappointed they did not finish their chances having had 23 shots on goal, compared to Bayern's 15, but were constantly frustrated by Bayern's defense.

And on the stroke of 90 minutes Ze Roberto unleashed an unstoppable shot which gave Frey little chance and made sure the Italians returned home empty handed.

Bayern are two points clear of Lyon, after the French champions recovered from 2-0 and 3-2 down at Steaua Bucharest to record a sensational 5-3 victory, thanks to two goals apiece from strike duo Karim Benzema and Fred.

The Romanian side went ahead in the eighth minute when full-back George Ogararu burst down the right to send in a perfectly-weighted pass to the unmarked Arthuro who headed past Hugo Lloris.

Lyon, who have conceded five goals in their last two league matches, conceded a second three minutes later, following a glaring mistake by Lloris.

Dorin Goian headed what appeared to be a weak effort goalward, but the flat-footed Lyon goalkeeper misjudged the flight of the ball as it limped into the net.

Lyon pulled a goal back in the 23rd minute with a sensational strike from Kader Keita, who volleyed an unstoppable shot past Robinson Zapata, and they equalized 10 minutes later when Benzema headed home a Fabio Grosso curling pass.

Just as Lyon were in the ascendancy, Steaua inflicted a brutal blow on the stroke of half-time. Ovidiu Petre again exposed weaknesses at the heart of the away team's backline to head the Romanians in front.

Lyon drew level when Brazilian substitute Fred found space just inside the Steaua box in the 69th minute to slot a side-footer home -- and just two minutes later Benzema clipped a delicate shot into the bottom right-hand corner to give Lyon the lead for the first time.

Fred struck his second in the second minute of stoppage time to complete the scoring and leave Steaua trailing in bottom place in the group with just a single point.
