(CNN) -- Harry Redknapp's revitalized Tottenham Hotspur beat Liverpool 2-1 at White Hart Lane to knock the visitors off the top of the Premier League and continue their remarkable run under the new manager.

Frank Lampard reached a career milestone as Chelsea went to the top.

A first win of the season against Bolton has been followed by an epic 4-4 draw at Arsenal and now victory over Liverpool, who have been replaced by Chelsea on goal difference, with both teams on 26 points after 11 games.

Dirk Kuyt put Rafa Benitez's men ahead after just three minutes and they might have added to the tally after hitting the woodwork three times.

They were made to pay 20 minutes from time when Spurs equalized as Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher headed a David Bentley corner into his own net under pressure from Ledley King.

Just when it seemed the game would end in a draw, previously misfiring Russia striker Roman Pavlyuchenko, who had come on as a substitute, turned in Darren Bent's cross from close range after Bentley's shot had been parried by Pepe Reina.

It moved Tottenham move off the bottom of the table into 18th spot and inflicted a first defeat of the season on Liverpool.

"I've made them believe in themselves a bit," Redknapp told Sky Sports News.

"We've had a great week but it's going to be tough. We've got some good players but getting the blend right is the problem.

"Seven points has been a fantastic return from some tough games. We do need to strengthen the squad a bit so we'll see what happens in January."

Earlier, Chelsea were particularly impressive in a 5-0 home thumping of Sunderland, who had manager Roy Keane sent off for contesting a decision.

Nicolas Anelka hit a hat-trick and Frank Lampard scored his 100th league goal after Brazil defender Alex had put them ahead from a close-range rebound in the 27th minute.

Anelka, who had hit just six goals in 25 Premier League appearances since joining Chelsea in January, made it 2-0 three minutes later when he touched in Alex's goal-bound shot. Keane was sent to the stands for protesting the goal.

The France striker scored again in the 45th from a pass by Florent Malouda.

Lampard made it 4-0 with a header six minutes into the second half and Anelka completed his first hat trick in England since September 2003 with a 53rd-minute finish from Malouda's low cross.

Champions Manchester United moved up to third, five points behind with a game in hand, after beating plucky Hull City 4-3 at Old Trafford.

United led 4-1 until Phil Brown's men staged a typically spirited late rally to trouble the home side.

Don't Miss

Michael Carrick and Nemanja Vidic added to Cristiano Ronaldo's two goals to put United 4-1 ahead before Bernard Mendy and Geovanni scored for Hull to unsettle Alex Ferguson's side.

Ronaldo's opener had been cancelled out by a fine strike from Daniel Cousin before United took command.

Arsenal's title hopes took a severe blow at Stoke who took a 11th-minute lead when Ricardo Fuller grabbed his fifth goal of the season from a long throw by Rory Delap.

Seyi Olofinjana made it 2-0 in the 73rd.

Arsenal got an injury-time goal from Gael Clichy but a miserable day already looked assured when substitute Robin Van Persie was sent off for elbowing goalkeeper Thomas Sorensen and winger Theo Walcott was carried from the field with what looked like a serious shoulder injury.

In Saturday's early kickoff, Everton improved upon the worst home record in England's 92-team professional league when Louis Saha scored with three minutes to give them a 1-0 win over Fulham and a first home victory of the season.

West Ham drew 1-1 at Middlesbrough, Blackburn drew 2-2 at West Bromwich Albion, and Wigan won 2-1 at Portsmouth, a late Emile Heskey goal handing Tony Adams his second straight defeat as new Pompey boss after succeeding Redknapp.
