LONDON, England (CNN) -- Adelaide United coach Aurelio Vidmar is refusing to throw in the towel on his side's AFC Champions League dream.
Adelaide coach Aurelio Vidmar believes his side can still be the champions of Asia.
The Reds were beaten 3-0 in the first leg of the final away to Gamba Osaka last week, with the second leg to come at the Hindmarsh Stadium on Wednesday.
But Vidmar is optimistic that his side have what it takes to overturn the deficit and lift the trophy.
"I still think you've truly got to believe in it," he told the official AFC Web site. Read more about football at Football Fanzone.
"There's still every possibility and in football you don't know what's going to happen so we're going to go out there, be aggressive, really take it up to them.
"Hopefully with a bit of luck we can get an early goal and then you just don't know what can happen."
This is only the second year Adelaide have entered the AFC Champions League and they are the first Australian team to make it to the final of Asia's top club competition.
Vidmar had compared Adelaide's achievement of reaching the final as "certainly as big as the [Australian] national team getting to the World Cup."
But he must cope with the loss of defender Angelo Costanzo and goalkeeper Eugene Galekovic, both of whom are banned after being booked in Osaka.
"It's a pretty big mountain to climb but you've still got to go out there and give it everything you've got and I know they will," added Vidmar.
There is some consolation even if they fail to complete a miraculous comeback in the form of the lucrative Club World Cup, which features the champion clubs of all continents.
As hosts, Japan's sole representative at FIFA's annual December showpiece is already confirmed as the winner of the J.League.
That means Adelaide could yet face reigning European champions Manchester United at the semi-final stage.
Gamba could still qualify for the tournament by winning the J.League, but they are seven points off the pace with three games left.
