(CNN) -- Former Manchester United and England striker Andy Cole has brought down the curtain on his glittering career which included five Premier League titles during his stay at Old Trafford.

Cole, who was unhappy with his treatment at Nottingham Forest, is now hoping to go into coaching.
The 37-year-old has been without a club since his contract at home-town club Nottingham Forest was canceled two weeks ago and he confirmed his retirement on Tuesday.
At his peak, Cole was one of the most feared strikers in Europe and won a Champions League winners' medal as United completed a famous treble in 1999.
Cole began his career at Arsenal, had spells at Fulham and Bristol City before joining Newcastle where he forged his reputation as part of Kevin Keegan's side that won promotion to the Premier League.
A hero on Tyneside with 55 goals in 69 league games, his £7 million ($10.93 million) switch to Manchester United on late 1995 was a major surprise.
Under Alex Ferguson, he scored 93 goals in 161 league appearances, adding two FA Cup winners' medals to his Premier League and Champions League triumphs.
He left United in December 2001 to join Blackburn and has gone on to play for Fulham, Manchester City, Portsmouth and Sunderland, taking his Premier League goals tally to 187.
Only Alan Shearer, whose presence limited Cole to 15 England caps, has scored more goals in the Premier League.
After dropping down a level to join Burnley, Cole switched to Forest in the summer but after 11 goalless appearances he was shown the door by manager Colin Calderwood.
Cole, who was unhappy with his treatment at the City Ground, is now hoping to go into coaching.
"I want to give something back. I don't think it's the end of the Andrew Cole story," he was quoted in The Times.
"I hope it's a new chapter."
