(CNN) -- Defending champions Manchester United will face Italian champions Inter Milan in one of three England v Italy showdowns, as the draw for the last 16 of the Champions League in Nyon, Switzerland, produced a host of mouthwatering ties.

Jose Mourinho will face his old nemesis Sir Alex Ferguson in the last 16 of the Champions League.

Jose Mourinho will face his old nemesis Sir Alex Ferguson in the last 16 of the Champions League.

As well as the United/Inter clash, which sees Jose Mourinho return to England following his successful spell as Chelsea manager, Chelsea will take on Juventus -- and another former manager in Claudio Ranieri -- while Arsenal have been drawn against Roma.

Before the draw, Mourinho had publicly stated that he wanted an English club -- and he got his wish as the Portuguese gets to lock horns again with former nemesis Sir Alex Ferguson -- who has beaten him only once in 12 previous meetings.

The pair first met in the 2004 competition when Mourinho's Porto side famously dumped United out on their way to winning the trophy -- with Mourinho running up and down

"I got my wish," Mourinho said. "I wanted the best and I got the European champions. Some say I have a good record against Ferguson, but it's not mine, it was Chelsea's."

Meanwhile, there is a real heavyweight showdown between Liverpool and Real Madrid, who between them have won the trophy 14 times.

The tie sees Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez return to the Bernabeu, where he started his career as a player, as the teams face each other in the competition for the first time since the 1981 final, which Liverpool won 1-0.

Elsewhere, French champions Lyon have been handed a tough task against tournament favorites Barcelona, while German champions Bayern Munich will be confident of getting past Sporting Lisbon.

The teams drawn first will be at home for the first legs, which take place in the week of February 24-25, while the return legs take place on March 10-11.
