(CNN) -- England captain John Terry was sent off for a late tackle in the first-half, as 10-man Chelsea drew 0-0 at Everton, losing their 100 per cent Premier League away record in the process.

England captain John Terry is given his marching orders in Chelsea's 0-0 draw at Everton.
A win would have put Chelsea top of the table, but Liverpool retain that position, one point ahead of the London side.
The result means none of the so-called Premier League 'big four' have won for the second week in a row -- and for the third time this season.
It is now 16 days since one of Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester United and Arsenal won a league match, and that statistic never looked like changing once Terry was shown the red card for a dangerous 36th minute lunge on Everton midfielder Leon Osman.
Prior to the sending-off, Chelsea looked the more likely side to break the deadlock. Defender Ashley Cole forced a good save out of goalkeeper Tim Howard while Nicolas Anelka hit a post from close range -- but was adjudged to have handled in the build-up.
But the London side's superiority faded after referee Phil Dowd dismissed Terry following his high tackle on Osman, a decision that means he will miss the Christmas matches against West Brom and Fulham.

Everton, with a huge injury list meaning they had to field a makeshift forward line that did not possess one recognized striker, began pouring forward in search of the winning goal.
Chelsea goalkeeper Peter Cech superbly tipped over a Joleon Lescott header while a flick from Marouane Fellaini went just wide of the post.
Everton thought they had snatched the points in the closing minutes when Steven Pienaar bundled the ball home, but the South African clearly kicked the ball out of Cech's hands before scoring.
