Kaymer has raced into a six-stroke lead at the halfway stage in Abu Dhabi.

The German is on 131 -- 13-under-par -- with Dubai Desert Classic champion Henrik Stenson his nearest challenger having started the day just one shot behind.

Swede Stenson could only muster a two-under-par 70 in more testing second round conditions which saw a number of big names way off the pace with British Open champion Padraig Harrington fully 13 shots behind.

England's Steve Webster, who followed up his opening round two-under-par 70 with a second round 68, and Spain's Gonzalo Fdez-Castano sat a further shot adrift at six-under.

South African Airways Open champion James Kingston, England's Phillip Archer, Sweden's Peter Hedblom and Spain's Ignacio Garrido at five-under-par.

"I hit the ball great ... maybe not as good as yesterday, but my putting was very good out there," Kaymer said.

"I have had better two consecutive rounds, but that was the EPD Tour and it was a totally different golf course. This is a golf course on the European Tour and that makes it a big difference." E-mail to a friend E-mail to a friend
