(CNN) -- A small plane crashed into a house Friday in North Las Vegas, Nevada, killing three people, Fire Chief Kevin Brame said.

A video image shows a North Las Vegas, Nevada, house after it was hit Friday by a small plane.
He said a small aircraft crashed into the single-family residence.
The pilot was killed, along with one resident of the house, he said.
A third victim who was also inside the home died at a hospital.
Orange flames could be seen shooting from the house, but the wreckage of the airplane was not visible.

Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Ian Gregor said the pilot left North Las Vegas Airport on Friday morning aboard an experimental, home-built Velocity 173RG aircraft.

He said the pilot was unable to gain altitude and radioed the control tower that he was going down. iReport.com: Are you there? Share your story
The plane crashed into a house a half-mile southeast of the airport at 6:28 a.m. local time, sparking an intense fire.
