LOS ANGELES, California (CNN) -- Firefighters Thursday extinguished all "visible" flames of a small wildfire that broke out near an upscale section of Los Angeles.

The fire burned about 100 acres near Interstate 405 for more than seven hours before 400 firefighters were able to get it under control, Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Brian Humphrey wrote in an online update.

The blaze was about two miles from the Getty Center in the Brentwood section of Los Angeles near Beverly Hills, the fire department said on its Web site.

There were no injuries or structure damage, and the cause is under investigation, Humphrey said.

Helicopters helped assess the extent of the fire, which authorities initially measured at 150 acres. Video Watch the fire rage before dawn »

The blaze moved away from the Getty Center, home of the J. Paul Getty Museum, which displays thousands of works of art, including European paintings, Greek and Roman antiquities and 18th-century French decorative arts. iReport.com: Are you there? Share your story

The Getty Center, which opened in December 1997, uses a herd of goats each spring to help clear brush and reduce fire danger.

Don't Miss

Earlier, Humphrey had expressed caution about the possibility of strong winds at daybreak.

He warned people "in the immediate area who can see flames" to "calmly prepare to leave well in advance of the flames."

Evacuation shelters were set up at a nearby temple and the Veterans Affairs Hospital in Westwood, he said.

Humphrey said the California Highway Patrol plans to reopen some sections of I-405 that were closed due to the fire.

Off-ramps along Sepulveda Pass -- a portion of which runs through the Santa Monica Mountains -- will remain closed until further notice, he said.

The fire also prompted cancellation of morning classes at the Chalon Campus of Mount St. Mary's College, a women's college with Spanish Colonial architecture that served as the setting for the fictional Harbor High School on the TV show "The O.C."
