(CNN) -- Ted Turner is working with Lutheran and United Methodist organizations to raise $200 million to fight malaria in Africa, the CNN founder announced Tuesday.
TV mogul Ted Turner and two church organizations are encouraging others to open their wallets to fight malaria.
The effort will unite Turner's United Nations Foundation the People of the United Methodist Church and Lutheran World Relief to fight the disease, according to a release posted on the foundation's Web site.
"You've got to have faith to build a better world," Turner said in the release. "Our collective efforts demonstrate resolve across faiths, countries, and sectors to stamp out malaria."
The coalition will help educate people about the disease and strengthen preventative programs, the release said.
Turner created the foundation to administer his $1 billion gift to the United Nations, pledged in 1997.
