BOGOTA, Colombia (CNN) -- The wheels of justice have ground to a halt for thousands of people in Colombia.
Judicial workers went on strike in early September, demanding higher pay and better working conditions.
The work stoppage has delayed thousands of court cases, including the prosecutions of about 2,200 suspects considered dangerous.
On Monday, the Colombian government proposed pay raises for judges and other employees of the judicial branch, a government statement said.
The union's response was not immediately clear. A statement from ASONAL, an association that represents court system employees, said the union rejected an earlier government proposal.
The government and unions that represent judges, prosecutors and other judicial employees have failed to reach agreement despite at least 10 meetings since the work stoppage began.
