The story

Hong Kong prepared Friday to stage the Olympic torch relay, the first time the event will be held on the soil of the host of this year's Summer Games.

Gray skies, light rain and heavy mist greeted the thousands of organizers and police who were deploying across the region, as the torch was to be carried through canyons of skyscrapers and outlying communities in the New Territories.

Hong Kong residents have been encouraged to wear red to show their support for the flame, and about 3,000 police will be on hand. Read full article »
