(CNN) -- Three people were killed and at least 12 hurt when a bus burned in Shanghai, China on Monday, a state-run news agency reported.
Initial reports on the Xinhua news agency said the bus exploded. The agency later said the bus "caught fire."
The cause was not immediately known, Xinhua said.
Firefighters estimated that 50 passengers were on the No. 842 Bus at the time of the incident, which happened in Yangpu District, in northeast Shanghai. E-mail to a friend ![]()
