(CNN) -- North Korea's reclusive leader, Kim Jong Il, made a rare public appearance at a Pyongyang soccer match, the country's state news agency reported on Saturday.

U.S. intelligence officials said Kim Jong Ill had been suffering from serious health problems.

Kim recently has missed numerous events that he would normally attend, and there have been unconfirmed reports that he may be seriously ill.
North Korea's KCNA news agency reported that Kim watched a soccer match marking the 62nd anniversary of Kim Il Sung University. He reportedly congratulated the players after the game.
