(CNN) -- Landslides in southwestern China killed at least 20 people over the weekend, state-run media reported Monday.
At least 42 others were missing after the landslides in Yunnan Province, according to the Xinhua news agency, which cited local authorities. The mud crushed parts of the autonomous Chuxiong Yi prefecture, four counties and the provincial capital of Kunming.

More than 1,000 homes collapsed under the mud or sustained damage, Xinhua reported.
Officials were delivering tents, blankets and clothes as authorities assessed casualties and damage, the news agency said. No other information was immediately available.
