(CNN) -- A ferry leaving a Turkish port south of Istanbul sank late Sunday, CNN partner station CNN Turk said.
Only one death was immediately confirmed.
The ferry leaving the port of Bandirma carried about 100 vehicles and 150 people, and sank within sight of land, the station said, citing local authorities. Twenty-four injuries also were confirmed, it said.
An unknown number of people were rescued from the water and an unknown number of them were taken to hospitals, it said.
Bandirma is on the east side of the Sea of Marmara, the body of water between the Mediterranean Sea and the Black Sea.
