NEW DELHI, India (CNN) -- Fresh from visiting leaders in Pakistan and Afghanistan, U.S. special envoy Richard Holbrooke arrived in India on Sunday, the U.S. Embassy in New Delhi said.
Holbrooke arrived a day before a scheduled meeting with India's national security adviser and the country's foreign minister, embassy spokesman Unni Menon told CNN.
He is expected to address regional security issues and India's views on Afghanistan, Menon said.
Earlier in the day, Holbrooke met with Afghan President Hamid Karzai and the two held a joint news conference in Kabul.
U.S. President Barack Obama and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton tapped Holbrooke as special representative for Afghanistan and Pakistan, a signal of how the new administration considers the two countries intertwined in any solution to the war in Afghanistan and the terrorist threat along their shared border.
