(CNN) -- AC Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani has hinted the Rossoneri have edged closer to securing the permanent signing of England midfielder David Beckham.

Beckham's long-running proposed move to AC Milan could be set to reach a conclusion.
Beckham is on a short-term loan deal with Milan from Major League Soccer side Los Angeles Galaxy and has expressed his desire to remain with the Serie A giants.
Negotiations between the two clubs have taken place, although the Galaxy are adamant the former Manchester United and Real Madrid star will be returning to the United States unless their asking price is met.

Galliani would not divulge too much information when he spoke although he did confirm to Italian sports newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport: "In the past few hours we have taken steps forward. We are more confident now."
Beckham is due to return to Major League Soccer on March 9 unless a deal can be agreed.
