(CNN) -- Aston Villa goalkeeper Brad Friedel has had his sending off in Sunday's defeat at Liverpool overturned by the English Football Association.

Friedel attempts to avoid the incoming Torres and was sent off for his troubles.
The American was red-carded after 63 minutes of the 5-0 thrashing at Anfield where he was adjudged to have brought down Fernando Torres after the Spain striker burst through on goal.
Villa's appeal was upheld on Tuesday, meaning 37-year-old Friedel will be available for their next Premier League game at leaders Manchester United on April 5.
The news is a boost for Martin O'Neill's side, whose bid to finish in a Champions League place has faltered in recent weeks. They are currently fifth, three points behind fourth-placed Arsenal.
Friedel, meanwhile, can add to his Premiership record of 182 successive appearances reached against former club Liverpool at the weekend.
