(CNN) -- Managerial juggernauts Sir Alex Ferguson and Arsene Wenger have put their Champions League semifinal collision on the backburner to concentrate on this weekend's FA Cup semifinals.
United manager Ferguson will be hoping to find plenty more to applaud over the coming few weeks.
Wenger's Arsenal face Chelsea -- they meet Barcelona in the other European last-four clash -- on Saturday with Ferguson's United playing Everton on Sunday, both at Wembley.
Over in Switzerland, European chiefs will be desperately hoping Barcelona can break the current English monopoly on their top club competition and avoid another all-Premier League final in the Rome climax on May 27.
A year ago United trumped Chelsea on penalty kicks having beaten Barca in the semiifinals while Ferguson's side break new ground in the latest stage of their title defense with their first two-legged Euro tie against English opposition.
"It would be tough no matter who we played but the fact it is another English side gives a different type of spice to it," said Ferguson after Cristiano Ronaldo's wonder goal went them through against Porto.
"We are two good footballing sides, so it should be a terrific semifinal. Our game earlier in the season was fantastic. It was the way football should be played and we will look forward to it.
"The first leg is at home, so 1-0 would be perfect for us. But it is not going to be easy."
Wenger believes his young side will relish the chance to test themselves against United, but maintains focus must first be on securing a place in the FA Cup Final.
The Gunners head into the clash with Guus Hiddink's men in confident mood following the 3-0 Champions League quarterfinal second-leg home win over 10-man Villarreal.
The second leg of the Champions tie will be on May 5 at the Emirates Stadium and Wenger told PA Sport: "It is a test, but it is a challenge you relish and we are excited about that."
He added: "Now, the most important thing is Chelsea. We focus on the short-term target."
Wenger continued: "We have confidence and that is down to the slow progress we have accumulated from game to game in the Premier League. Confidence transfers from one competition to the other that's why we cannot choose any competition and just want to play well in every single competition.
"What will be important against United will be the form of the day.
"Both teams have the same program -- a game in hand to play in the league, a cup semifinal, so how much we are physically okay might have an impact.
"That's one of the great things about these type of games -- they are not predictable."
Ronaldo, meanwhile, claimed the wonder goal that took United through in Portugal was the No. 1 of his career. His 20th goal of the season came from fully 35 yards and he admitted:"It is the best I have scored. It was a fantastic strike and I can't wait to see it again on DVD. I am very happy with it."
