Brazilian Ilsinho netted the decisive winner, cutting inside the area before stroking the ball home, as Shakhtar became the first Ukrainian side to reach the final of a major European competition, where they will face Werder Bremen in Istanbul on May 20.

Following last week's 1-1 draw in Kiev, Shakhtar were favorites to progress, and they got a perfect start when Ilsinho's compatriot Jadson fired home from the edge of the area after defender Ebert Betao failed to clear a loose ball.

Kiev thought they had levelled 10 minutes before the break, but Croatian Ognjen Vukojevic's effort -- following a well-worked free-kick routine -- was ruled out for offside.

However, Kiev did equalize just two minutes into the second half when a fine move involving Artem Milevskiy and Oleksandr Aliev saw the ball played into the on-rushing Ismael Bangoura, who superbly chipped Shakhtar keeper Andriy Pyatov.

Kiev could have snatched a decisive second goal, but Shakhtar defender Luiz Adriano cleared off his own goalline and -- with time running out -- Moroccan midfielder Badr El Kaddouri failed to cut out a through ball and Ilsinho pounced to outpace Aliya Yussuf and slam a fine left-foot shot low into the bottom corner of the net.
