(CNN) -- An unrepentant Emmanuel Adebayor has launched an outspoken attack on his former Arsenal teammates after receiving a three-match ban for stamping on Robin van Persie in Manchester City's 4-2 win on Saturday.

Adebayor was also accused of a stamp on Fabregas which left the midfielder incensed.

Adebayor has also been charged for his goal celebration in last Saturday's defeat of Arsenal.

The Togo international also faces further punishment if the English Football Association decide to take action over his controversial goal celebration as he ran the length of the pitch and appeared to taunt Arsenal supporters.

But Adebayor told The Sun newspaper that he was dismayed at being snubbed by Arsenal players before the start of the English Premier League clash at Eastlands.

"There were players from Arsenal who refused to shake my hand before the match," Adebayor was quoted.

"I don't want to give you their names -- that is not my style -- but there's more than one of them.

"My friends, like Emmanuel Eboue, were fine with me. They are decent people.

"But I could not understand some of the Arsenal players being disrespectful towards me."

Adebayor -- Hero or villain?

Adebayor, who was transferred to City for $41 million in the close season, had an uneasy relationship with Arsenal supporters even before his move as he appeared to court the attentions of Barcelona and AC Milan last season.

But he claimed he had been misrepresented in a stout defense of his actions.

"I can just about understand the fans' reaction because they don't know the full story," he said.

"An offer came in for me and, as I understand it, Arsene (Wenger) and the club accepted the offer the same day," he said.

"It wasn't my fault I left, it was Arsene who wanted to accept the offer for me."

Blog: Adebayor deserves to be banned

Adebayor has been charged with improper conduct over his goal celebration and City have until September 30 to decide if they will contest the charge.

He will already miss Sunday's derby against Manchester United plus a League Cup tie and the visit of West Ham on September 28.

The controversy showed no sign of abating on Friday as former teammate Cesc Fabregas claimed that he had also been stamped on by Adebayor in the fiery encounter.

"I think this is a red card here," Fabregas was quoted in The Sun.

"I was lucky my foot was in the air when it happened," Fabregas added.

"All I tried to do when he Adebayor was at Arsenal was to create opportunities for him to score -- so I think I didn't do too bad for him."

Adebayor has scored in each of Manchester City's four Premier League games this season as the big-spenders threaten to challenge the established elite in England.
