The story

The five permanent members of the U.N. Security Council and Japan met Monday for a second closed-door session to hammer out a response to North Korea's weekend rocket launch in defiance of international opposition.

But, as happened on Sunday following a called emergency session, there was no official statement from the council.

John Sawers, British ambassador to the United Nations, emerged Monday from the discussions to reiterate the Western governments' belief that the launch of the Taepodong-2 rocket was a breach of Security Council resolutions and required a clear council response. Read full article »
