(CNN) -- Three international military service members have died in Afghanistan, authorities reported on Friday.

Two of NATO's International Security Assistance Force troops were killed as a result of direct fire on Friday in eastern Afghanistan.

"On behalf of ISAF, I offer our sympathy to the families of our fallen soldiers," said ISAF Capt. Mark Durkin.

Also, a British Royal Marine died in an explosion on Thursday in southern Afghanistan, the Defense Ministry said.

The Marine was traveling in a military vehicle near Lashkar Gah in Helmand province at the time.

"We are numb with grief at this loss of a noble Marine, who served his country for the good of the Afghan people," said Lt. Col. Nick Richardson, Task Force Helmand spokesman.
