Quake shakes India's northeast

NEW DELHI, India (CNN) -- A 5.3-magnitude earthquake shook India's remote northeastern region bordering Myanmar on Monday, authorities said.

The India Meteorological Department classified the temblor as of moderate intensity.

There were no immediate reports of casualties.

Monday's was the third quake hitting India's northeast this month.

A 4.9-magnitude quake struck Assam state on August 19, preceded by a 5.6 temblor on August 12 in Manipur along the Myanmar border.
