(CNN) -- At least 12 people were killed and 25 were injured Saturday when a train collided with a bus in Slovakia, government officials said.
The accident happened at 9 a.m. in the village of Polomka, near the town of Brezno in central Slovakia.

The dead were from the bus, which was taking 37 people from the town of Banovce nad Bebravou on a skiing trip. The injured were taken to a hospital.
Prime Minister Robert Fico traveled to the scene, and top government officials held an urgent meeting to discuss the accident.
