BAGHDAD, Iraq (CNN) -- At least 22 civilians were killed and 38 other people were wounded Thursday in a Baghdad car bombing, the Iraqi Interior Ministry said.

A parked car bomb blew up near a bus station and a hospital in Shaab, a Shiite neighborhood in northeastern Baghdad.

The bombing took place around 12:40 p.m. local time (5:40 a.m. ET). Four women and three children were among the dead.

On Wednesday, a roadside bomb near a primary school in northern Iraq killed four female students, the country's Interior Ministry said.

The bomb went off in Mosul, where al Qaeda in Iraq militants have had a presence and have fought with U.S. troops and Iraqi security forces.

Along with the four fatalities, seven people were wounded.

Farther south in Baghdad on Wednesday, a bomb targeting security guards from the country's Justice Ministry wounded two guards and two bystanders.

The bombing occurred along Haifa Street, a sometimes dangerous stretch in central Baghdad. The explosive had been attached to the guards' vehicle.
