JERUSALEM (CNN) -- Five militants died early Monday as they attempted to carry out an attack against Israeli forces, near Nachal Oz Crossing in northern Gaza, Hamas security sources said.
The attack involved horses strapped with explosives, according to the sources. The crossing is a primary transit point for fuel into Gaza.
Israeli soldiers reportedly came under attack by the militants before returning fire, according to the Israel Defense Forces.
There were no immediate reports of Israeli casualties.
