BAGHDAD, Iraq (CNN) -- A suicide car bomber exploded at a crowded outdoor market in southern Iraq, killing at least 35 people and wounding 65 others Wednesday, officials said.

The blast occurred about 10 a.m. local time in Bathaa, Interior Ministry officials said. A Shiite town, Bathaa is located about 15 miles, or 25 kilometers northwest of Nasiriya in Thiqar province.
