Twelve of Europe's largest companies have banded together to put sun collector plants in the desert.
Representatives of five European countries and Turkey signed a deal to create the Nabucco Gas Pipeline Project. If completed successfully, the gas pipeline will stretch from the Caspian Sea and the Middle East, through Turkey and into Europe.
Ultimately, the project should reduce Europe's reliance on Russian gas, but there are still hurdles to overcome. MME talks to Reinhard Mitschek, the man who heads the project, about the challenges ahead.

They want to put sun collector power plants in the desert from the Sahara all the way to Saudi Arabia to provide up to 15 percent of Europe's energy by 2050.
