(CNN) -- Four Coast Guard crew members are being charged in connection with a fatal boat accident in California's San Diego Bay last year, according to the U.S. Coast Guard.
In a statement released Thursday, the Coast Guard said the charges against the crew members include negligent homicide, aggravated assault and dereliction of duty. One of the four, Petty Officer Paul A. Ramos, the boat coxswain, is being charged with involuntary manslaughter.
The Coast Guard patrol boat struck a civilian vessel during a holiday boat parade in the bay in December. The accident killed one child and injured at least five others on the civilian vessel.
The charges against the crew members are being brought under the Uniform Code of Military Justice. All the crew members are from the Coast Guard Station in San Diego.
