(CNN) -- Investigators are searching for two children abducted from a California apartment complex Thursday night, police said.

Authorities issued an Amber Alert for Jacob Quinones, 4, and Justin Quinones, 2, who were abducted from an alley outside the family home in Anaheim, California, said Sgt. Rick Martinez with the Anaheim Police Department.

The mother of the abducted children was taking out the trash with the boys when she said two men jumped out of a 2010 silver or pewter Dodge Caravan, grabbed the kids and then drove away, according to Martinez.

The alleged abduction was reported at 7:50 p.m. (10:50 p.m. ET), police said.

Witnesses described the suspects as a man in his mid-20s and another man in his mid-40s, police said.

Justin Quinones is described as a 2-foot-6-inch tall Hispanic male, weighing 38 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. Jacob Quinones is a 3-foot-tall Hispanic male, weighing 62 pounds with black hair and brown eyes.
