(CNN) -- A 5.2-magnitude quake struck eastern Sichuan province, China, on Sunday, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.
The 11.6-mile deep temblor rattled at 5:37 a.m. (4:37 p.m. ET Saturday), the survey said.
There were no immediate reports of injuries or damage.
In May 2008, the southwestern province was rocked by a 7.9-magnitude quake that killed 68,719 people, state-run Xinhua news agency reported. Thousands of schools were leveled and more than 5,000 students killed, Xinhua reported.
