Quake hits off Philippines

(CNN) -- An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.7 struck Monday off the northern Philippines, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.

The quake hit at 9:38 a.m. about 125 kilometers (78 miles) south of Basco, in the Batan Islands, and 535 kilometers (332 miles) north-northeast of Manila, the USGS said.

There were no immediate reports of damage.
