Kabul, Afghanistan (CNN) -- One person was killed and eight others wounded after an explosion on a coalition helicopter in Afghanistan, the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force said Tuesday.

The blast took place in eastern Afghanistan Tuesday when the helicopter was on the ground, coalition officials said.

The helicopter had just landed before the blast.

"Initial reports indicate there were 26 people on board the aircraft," an ISAF statement said.

Officials were trying to determine what caused the blast.

Officials initially reported that two people were killed and 10 were wounded.

The incident comes after nine U.S. servicemembers were killed in a helicopter crash in southern Afghanistan in late September.
