(CNN) -- A bomb exploded near a military convoy in northwestern Pakistan Friday, killing six soldiers, military officials said.
The attack took place near a village in Orakzai -- one of seven districts in Pakistan's tribal region along the Afghan border.
The victims of Friday's attack included a lieutenant colonel, said the two officials, who asked not to be identified because they are not authorized to speak to the media.
The Pakistani military declared victory against the militants in Orakzai in June, after launching an offensive there against the Taliban.
Friday's bomb attack and recent aerial strikes targeting alleged militant hideouts may indicate the fight is not yet over.
