Baghdad, Iraq (CNN) -- Two Iraqi soldiers were killed and eight others were wounded after a suicide car bomb attack at an Iraqi army checkpoint, local police told CNN.
The explosion, in western Mosul, also caused the collapse of a nearby occupied house.
An Iraqi civil defense team rushed to try to rescue family members trapped under the rubble, police said.
The city of Mosul is located in Nineveh province, about 420 kilometers (261 miles) north of Baghdad.
