A Bowie State University student is arrested after fatally stabbing her roommate, police say
Police say 18-year-old Dominique Frazier died during an argument
The school canceled classes Friday
Maryland police charged a college student Friday in the stabbing death of her roommate in the campus apartment they shared.
The victim, 18-year-old Dominique Frazier, was found Thursday night unconscious and bleeding in the hallway of the student housing, police said. She was taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital, where she died of her wounds.
Frazier was from Washington, police said.
“The preliminary investigation indicates the victim and suspect became involved in an argument in their suite that escalated into a physical confrontation,” Maryland State Police said in a statement.
Police said they believe Simpson left the campus after the assault. At about midnight, she turned herself in to county police officers. She was taken into custody by state police.
Residents of the housing complex where the killing occurred have been moved to other locations while the investigation continues, the university said in a statement.
Administrators canceled classes for Friday and scheduled a community gathering for noon ET.
“This kind of senseless violence is difficult to understand,” the school said in a statement.
