The United States designated the leader of al Qaeda in Iraq, Ibrahim ‘Awwad Ibrahim’ Ali al-Badri, as a Specially Designated Global Terrorist Tuesday, the U.S. State Department said.

That designation puts into place a ban on knowingly providing material support or resources to him and freezes his assets in the United States. The United States also offered a $10 million reward for information that leads to him, the State Department said.

The United States designated al Qaeda in Iraq as a Foreign Terrorist Organization in 2004.
