[Updated 4:30 p.m. ET, Monday, October 17] People wade through floodwaters in Ayutthaya, Thailand, a city that has been submerged for nearly two weeks now.
Many shops are flooded and closed in Ayutthaya, about 100 kilometers (62 miles) north of Bangkok. Roads have become rivers, with people having to swim or use boats to get food and water.
"Doctors are patrolling the flooded areas in small boats and are making house calls to residents, to those incapable of moving," said CNN's Paula Hancocks. "It's one of the worst-hit areas in the country."
More than 500,000 square kilometers -- an area the size of Spain -- have been affected by floods in Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam and Laos, CNN meteorologist Jenny Harrison said Friday. By early Sunday morning, 297 people had been killed in Thailand.
Thanks to all who participated in our CNN.com photo challenge. "Vittoriokiss" was the first reader to answer correctly, but "bkk6606" and "korkoo" were very close behind.
