The provincial minister of Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province came under attack Monday when assailants opened fire on his convoy, shattering his windshield, police said.

Amjad Afridi was on his way home when the attack occurred in Kohat, south of Peshawar, said Mubarak Zeb, a senior police official.

Afridi escaped unharmed, but he is the second government official in the region to come under attack in two weeks.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Gov. Syed Masood Kausar was attacked on his way to a political rally in Orakzai, a volatile tribal area southwest of Peshawar, when assailants fired on his convoy and the rally, injuring six.
