(CNN) -- World No. 1 Caroline Wozniacki is through to the third round of the French Open after beating Canada's Aleksandra Wozniak 6-3 7-6 (8-6) on Wednesday.

But the 20-year-old, who has yet to win a grand slam title, did little to convince her critics that she might break her duck in Paris this year as she struggled at times against a player ranked 161 places below her.

Wozniacki also didn't endear herself to the crowd either when she complained to the umpire about a line call for several minutes when facing three set-points in the second-set tie-break.

Her complaints were dismissed and play resumed, but the delay had clearly unsettled her opponent, Wozniak who proceeded to lose the next five points to hand the Dane victory.

Wozniacki will face 28th seed Daniela Hantuchova in round three after the Slovak defeated Italy's Sara Errani 6-1 6-2.

Defending champion Francesca Schiavone enjoyed a comfortable 6-1 6-2 win over Vesna Dolonts and will now face China's Shuai Peng -- the 29th seed having defeated Polona Hercoz of Slovenia 7-5 6-1.

The 2009 champion Svetlana Kuznetsova thrashed Romania's Irina-Camelia Begu 6-1 6-1, while eighth seed Sam Stosur also dropped just two games in her 6-0 6-2 demolition of Romania's Simona Halep.

Stosur, last year's runner-up, will now play Gisela Dulko from Argentina who beat 32nd seed Tsvetana Pironkova 6-4 6-2.

Tenth seed Jelena Jankovic is also through to the third round after beating Vera Dushevina 6-3 6-2.

Julia Gorges, the 17th seed, needed three sets to defeat Lucie Safarova from the Czech Republic.

The German came back after losing the opening set to eventually win 2-6 7-5 6-2 to set up a third round match against the 11th seed, France's Marion Bartoli.

Georges compatriot Sabine Lisicki was stretchered off court in tears after illness and injury denied her victory against Russian third seed Vera Zvonareva.

Lisicki wasted a match point when she was leading 5-2 in the third set before an injury that kept her sidelined for five months in 2010 returned. She eventually lost 4-6 7-5 7-5.

The German also had her blood pressure taken towards the end of the second set.

"I hope she feels OK. That's what happens sometimes. It's part of the sport. No matter what, I had to keep doing my job," Zvonareva said, AFP reported.

Zvonareva will play Australia's Anastasia Rodionova in the third round.
