Jerusalem (CNN) -- Three Israeli settlers from the West Bank were arrested overnight on suspicion of setting fire to a police commander's car, Israel police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld told CNN Monday.
The arrests follow a violent confrontation between settlers and police three weeks ago.
Israeli security forces tried June 2 to dismantle illegal buildings that were built at the Alei Ayin outpost in the West Bank.
Settlers, who are trying to expand Israeli presence in land the Palestinians also claim, resisted the Israeli security personnel.
Five settlers and six policemen were injured and the car of the police commander of the Binyamin region was torched.
The Alei Ayin outpost was demolished.
Then, on June 7, there was an attempt to set fire to the mosque in the West Bank village of Al-Mughayyir, near the Alei Ayin outpost.
The words "Price Tag" and "Alei Ayin" were sprayed in Hebrew on the outer walls of the mosque.
"Price tag" attack is a term used by radical Israeli settlers to denote reprisal attacks against Palestinians in response to moves by the Israeli government to evacuate illegal West Bank outposts.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu strongly condemned the torching of the mosque, calling it "a despicable act that comes to incite provocations."
The Palestinian Authority accused the Israeli government of incitement over the arson attack.
"Israel is forever accusing Palestinians of incitement, but does nothing to stop its citizens attacking our religious places -- what is that but incitement?" the Palestinian Authority's media office said in a statement.
CNN's Kareem Khadder contributed to this report.
