An Italian citizen was kidnapped Thursday in Pakistan’s Punjab province, the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced.
The unidentified Italian was kidnapped in Multan, in southern Punjab, according to a foreign affairs ministry statement. No further details were provided.
The ministry is in contact with the family of the kidnapped Italian, the statement said.
It appealed to the news media to cooperate with the ministry’s “cautious” approach in releasing information “in order not to jeopardize efforts to achieve the freedom of our fellow countryman.”
