[Updated 3 p.m. Monday, February 13] Tourists make their way through heavy snow last week in front of the Kiev Pechersk Lavra cathedral in Ukraine.
Eastern Europe has been struggling with a dangerous cold spell for the past couple of weeks, and Ukraine has probably suffered the most. As of Friday, more than 100 people had died in the country and more than 3,000 had been hospitalized.
Also, more than 120 ships were trapped in the Kerch Strait because of ice, according to the state news agency Ukrinform.
The big freeze is not likely to end any time soon, CNN meteorologist Brandon Miller said. Arctic air is expected to keep reaching deep into Europe, keeping temperatures low and preventing snow from melting.
"DecentShadow" was the first CNN.com reader to guess Kiev in our photo challenge, while "chadb4184" was the first to correctly name the cathedral.

Each Monday morning, we'll post a new photo and challenge you to tell us its origin. The photo might be related to a prominent news story or theme -- or it might just be something that caught our eye.
