(CNN) -- Authorities in Ohio are investigating the deaths of four people they believe are connected to a gunman who shot himself in a cemetery after allegedly opening fire in a nearby home.

Police found a woman and two males dead Friday in a Newton Falls home after receiving a distress call from a neighbor around noon, according to a statement from Chief John Kuivila of the Newton Falls Police Department. A child was able to escape the home and is safe, according to the statement.

Another woman was discovered dead in a home close by.

The suspected gunman shot himself a few hours after police discovered the bodies, and later died in Trumbull County Memorial Hospital, according to Kuivila.

Newton Falls, with a population of about 5,000, is located roughly 60 miles southeast of Cleveland.
