Official: Suspected Taliban militants attack Pakistani police station

(CNN) -- Militants killed one officer Monday after attacking a police station in Bannu, Pakistan, police officials told CNN.
Six men attacked the police station, where nine special intelligence officers were on duty, Waqar Ahmed said. Two of the attackers were dressed in burqas, the long robes normally worn by women, and once inside threw hand grenades and began firing, senior police official Nisar Ahmed Tanvir said.
One militant blew himself up, and another was killed by gunfire, Tanvir said. At least three police officers were wounded and taken to a hospital, he said.
Ahmed said another officer had died after being taken hostage.
The attack similar to an April battle where 200 Taliban fighters attacked another Bannu jail, killing five police officers, Ahmed said. The Pakistan faction of the Taliban said it carried out that attack as revenge for police torture.
Bannu is in Pakistan's troubled northern tribal area.
